What the Loan Remembers
A single coin on the floor throws the shadow of a ship's anchor up the wall.
The essay argues a small loan is heavy because of what it stops you refusing. The coin is drawn at its true size; the wall shows what it does. Nothing here says debt is evil, only that its weight is cast elsewhere.
Rejected allegories
- A ladder with one rung made of padlocks. Says debt blocks progress, not that debt is secretly heavy.
- A house made of coins. Reads as wealth, the opposite of the thesis.
